Phantom Aeronautics introduces the Phantom II light sport aircraft at E.A.A.'s Sun N Fun 2006

Phantom Aeronautics of Three Rivers Michigan unveiled their latest design  the two place Phantom for the first time at Sun N Fun.

The factory has put nearly 50 hours on it as an ultralight and then another 10 hours on it as an N numbered aircraft.

The craft has been in the research and development stages for nearly three years now.

With all of the load testing done (wings to +9 -6 G's) and completion of the flight test program the Phantom II is now ready to enter the market under the 51% rule and under the new light sport program.

The craft uses strut bracing, and a tapered wing with flaps. The tapered wing gives a little more speed allowing the use of a smaller wing.  The Phantom  features side by side seating with dual stick and rudder pedal controls.

Power is supplied by the Rotax 582 65 HP liquid cooled two stroke engine, or the Rotax 912, four stroke 80 or 100 hp engines. With the Rotax 582 climb at gross comes in at around 500 feet per minute with a cruise in the 65  to 75 mph range.

Touch down with flaps comes in at around 40 mph, 45 without. The craft comes equipped with a full enclosure, but can be flown with the doors off. There is a folding wing option available for ease of storage.

Building time in kit form is 150 hours, with no special tools required and it can be comfortably built in a two car garage.

Current delivery times are 6 to 8 weeks from placement of order.
