Wolff AeroCycle of New Jersey, combining a motorcycle and aircraft for ground and air transportation.

Over the years there have been a number of very innovative ideas using ultralight aircraft mated with other forms of transportation.

Powered parachutes have been mated with pedal power to allow movement from home to airfield. Trikes have been modified to land at and airfield, have the wing removed and convert to a vehicle for transportation down a road.

Now Wolff AeroCycle of New Jersey is proposing "incorporating a conventional light-weight motorcycle with a removable fixed-wing flight module. When detached, the motorcycle will provide local ground transportation."

The craft would have a "flight module" which would be equipped with engines to provide thrust for flight, and would take advantage of the propulsion available from the motorcycle during take off.

The control system which a patent has been applied for would use a single handlebar system for pitch, roll, yaw and steering. This is accomplished by allowing the handlebars to move up and down and tilt while in flight but be rigid when used for ground transportation.

The rudder pedals would also be replaced by movement of the handlebars left and right.

Two models are currently been considered for production, one to fit the Special Light Sport Aircraft category, and another to be made available in kit form.
