LSA America was at the U.S. Sport Aviation Expo with a new single place ultralight design the ZJ-Viera. This lightweight all composite design is available in both a tail dragger and tri gear landing configuration.

The ZJ-Viera is a true ultralight fitting under the Part 103 exemption, and no license or medical is required to fly it.

Power is supplied by an F200, 2 stroke engine made by Flying Engines of the CzechLSA America's ZJ-Viera all composite ultralight aircraft, tri-cycle gear version. Republic. The engine is an aircraft engine that was originally designed for trikes and powered paragliders.

The engine puts out 27 horsepower and comes standard with electric start. On the ZJ-Viera is supplied with a 3 to 1 belt drive reduction system with a two blade 54 inch propeller. At cruise the engine uses only a gallon of fuel an hour. With the 3.2 fuel tank and an additional header tank this gives over 3 hours of flight time.

The tri-gear version of the ZJ-Viera weighs in at a total empty weight of only 171 lbs. This weight low weight has been achieved by the use of modern day composite materials, without sacrificing any strength or durability. The company reports wing load testing to over 8 G's.

The plane has a 27 mph stall speed at max gross and a glide ratio of 7 to 1.

The pilot sits in a reclining position, and is secure via use of a 4 point harness.

All of the control systems brakes, throttle, aileron and elevator are all controlled via a steering wheel like arrangement, while steering is via rudder pedals. The standard instrument panel hold 5 instruments and is located in front of the windshield, and just behind the engine.

The wings can be easily removed in as little as 10 minutes, by two people. This is aided by quick disconnects on the aileron control systems.

The plane was designed and is being manufactured by InterPlane manufacturers of the Skyboy series of lightsport aircraft. The planes are built by InterPlane test flown at the factory and then shipped via container to the U.S. where they are inventoried, reassembled and again test flown prior to delivery to customers.
