The SeaRey is a two place side by side seating, single engine amphibious tail dragger, in a pusher configuration, with a high tapered wing, and a center mounted hull with two sponsons out on the wings.

The control system is standard stick and rudder with dual sticks and rudder pedals and a center mounted throttle located between the seats.

It is equipped with flaps with the manual flap handle, (electric flaps are optional)  being located in the center of the cockpit above the pilots head. Manual trim is located in the center overhead console, with optional electric trim available, located on the top of the control stick. The rudder is controlled via cables, while the ailerons are operated by cables and push pull tubes.

The manual retract handle for the gear is located in the center section of the plane between the two pilots. It is a single lever action with a quick release handle. The pilot pulls back on a motorcycle brake lever style handle which releases the lock. He then pulls back on the handle until it locks to raise the gear. To lower the gear the pilot again releases the handle via the brake style lever and the lever will move forward into the front locking position.

The wings can easily be removed from the fuselage by two people in about 30 minutes. The tail section can also be removed in about the same time.

The cabin is 44 inches wide, and is easily vented for summer flying by simply sliding the door, or doors back. This can be done at any speed with no adverse effect to the flying characteristics of the plane.

The pilots sits below the leading edge of the wing which gives excellent visibility. The wide dash allows for installation of a wide variety of instruments, and avionics.

You enter the SeaRey by sliding the doors rearward on their rails. Shorter pilots will find it easier to step up on the wheel with one foot, then place the other foot onto the seat and step in, sliding your body forward into the well padded sling style seats. Lap belts are standard with other restraint systems available.

Storage compartments for maps are located in canvas side pockets on both sides of the craft. The fuel tank is located behind the pilots under the main boom. Fueling is done from outside using a conveniently located fuel lid located on the outside of the fuselage. Many pilots have modified the area above the fuel tank, so that it can be used as a convenient storage area directly behind the seats.
