AOPA Convention Hartford Connecticut 2007.

If this is your first time attending the AOPA, (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association) convention held in Hartford Connecticut you will be very impressed. The show is held in two locations.

The main commercial display area is located in downtown Hartford at the Hartford Convention Center.

A second outdoor display area which features actual aircraft on display and flying operates from the local Hartford-Brainard Airport, 251 Maxim Rd about 2 miles from the Convention Center. AOPA attendees were shuffled back and forth from the airport via Greyhound style buses, which leave and return from the airport on a 20 minute schedule.

For those with physical disabilities AOPA provided transportation via special buses capable of moving wheel chairs, and electric carts. These were called as needed, with operators returning for pick up at pre-arranged times.

One of the most impressive things about this convention is it's organization! As you arrive the very friendly and courteous people from AOPA guide you quickly through the registration process. Once registered you can then proceed into the main convention area which this year featured nearly 500 exhibits.

As a light sport aircraft enthusiast you can quickly narrow this down to 50 exhibits with LSA ties, in the main display area, with another 20 or so at the airport. In some cases exhibitors had displays at both locations.

Lightsport Aircraft manufacturers and suppliers in the main area included, Cessna, REMOS, Sportplanes.com, Lockwood Aviation, BRS, Aircraft Spruce, Sportplanes.com, ASA, Adventure Productions, Plane Sights, Aviation Supplies & Academics,
