Construction:

The construction used in the fuselage, wings and tail section in the 3X55 Trainer is all composite using resin, glass, foam filler and carbon fibre. Additional strength is built into the pilot enclosure to protect the pilots in case of forced landing in rough terrain.

The factory has also designed the plane to allow for installation of a BRS emergency parachute system. The firewall is constructed of Feberfrax a ceramic material, covered with an aluminium plate.

The motor mount is 4130 chromoly steel with rubber isolation mounts.

The main landing gear is also made from resilient glass composites.

The use of composite materials has proven to provide superior strength with considerably less weight compared to conventional types of construction. They also reduce maintenance and operating costs. In fact the factory indicates "that the cost of operation is very similar to that of the average passenger car."

Composites also make the craft easy to clean and pre-flight, since there are fewer nuts and bolts to inspect, and the Xtrim's outer surface is solid and smooth.

The 3X55 Trainer is delivered factory built ready to fly. The costumer is not required to do anything other than attach the wings and tail section to the fuselage. The craft currently complies with the JAR-VLA requirements, and has a Type Certificate of Very Light Airplane in Europe.
